Ballyliffin in Ireland is a "place in the middle of nowhere" (something very similar with my village where I live in Russia) .. and it holds a special place in my memories. Once in the middle of 2015, Brendan Diver sent me the letter with crazy suggestion (as I thought) :) ... But already thousands times I was grateful that it happened!!! Incredibly soulful and heartwarming people live there in this place with freedom smell! Sean Derry is definitely a real magician! Nothing would be possible without him! Coming back again and again every time I've got new friends and new adventures! And thank you Brendan for being the soul and the engine of these workshops every time!! Can't wait to see you again!! And thank you, my friends, who is coming for the second or even third time to my workshops!! I treasure it!!

Retrospection is all around at the moment. Uachtáran na h-Éireann visited Derry on Saturday to commemorate Oct 5 , 1968. By that time, I had gotten to know Ballyliffin and its surroundings very well. It has changed but is still hauntingly beautiful.
My expectations from the #ElenaShumilovaIrishWorkshops were high , since the presenter arrived with a well-minted reputation from the experiences of previous attendees. She looked a slight, rather shy figure at the registration event on Sunday; particularly so beside the commanding presence of the garrulous, man-child figure of #Brendan Diver, #photosfromireland in person. The latter is a consummate host and steward, always attentive with a firm grasp of detail and anxious to meet all needs, both photographic and social. At her first presentation, it was soon evident that Elena combines high level photographic skills with the ability to communicate and teach effectively.
Together , these two made a commanding team and soon each of us recognised that this was going to be a very special course as it certainly proved.
Each location was perceptively selected and full use was made of dramatic scenery and models , ranging in age from very young children to a senior figure with all the signs of age in his white hair and remarkable beard. Inishowen in autumn produces a very soft light which was welcomed by the photographers. There was great variety in the choice of locations too from the deeply affecting atmosphere of Doagh Famine Village to the haughty grandeur of 4000 year old Grianan Aileach. Some of the models, like Jessica and Sean, had some previous experience of photo-shoots but others brought the innocent appeal and freshness of newbies. No hackneyed gestures from them and we took full advantage to adapt them to our needs. Well done models, their parents and #photosfromireland , especially for the detailed attention to costume choice.
The multi-national group bonded well; we had expertise, support, advice, hospitality, entertainment and often hilarity. The tone was set from the start by the two principals - the chemistry and good humour of whose working relationship provided a nuanced start and induced confidence. Frequently courses are bilateral exercises where the suffering are 'talked at'. Not so on these workshops where there was a high degree of mutuality and common interest. An excellent model for others in the field.
Well done all and I thoroughly recommend participation both to working professionals but to amateurs such as I am.
Glauco Belligni: Going back home after a stop-over in Dublin for a couple more Guinnesses. Going back home though I am presently having some confusion on where home is... Perhaps just any place where I can open my suitcase. And the one I am carrying now has been filled with new knowledge, new emotions, new learnings, new consciousness, new purposes and intentions, many memories of happy moments, some soft sadness, the usual tiny sweet regrets for possible opportunities missed, gratitude. It will take some more time to elaborate and digest this all, and at the end of the processing I will probably be a little different self, hopefully a better one. Just keep changing with the tide. I expected the workshop to be very good, but actually it was faboulous and by far exceeded all my expectations. A very pleasant surprise was the 2-days phototour, really amazing. Breath taking locations, astonishing models and choreography, wonderful group and above all an impeccable organization. It rarely happens that everything goes so smoothly and problem-less and that you cannot find not even the tiniest flaw. Thank you to you all folks and in particular to Brendan - cheers for and to him - and to Elena. It was wonderful to share these days and these emotions with you all. I hope everybody got home safely and hope to meet you again along the road.
Antonio Robert Just wanted to touch base with you about our photography tour with you in Donegal. Your tour was the highlight of our Irish trip, it totally exceeded our expectations of what a photography tour should be like. You ticked all the boxes, you under promised and certainly over delivered! We as a group had a discussion about you after we left you and felt we knew you knew for years, you made us feel so welcome and gave us so much information regarding the history and culture of your area.
You had us all laughing for the couple of days we were with you and felt very at ease with you. For some of us this was their first time in Ireland and as a group we have done photography tours and workshops in a lot of locations across the world but by far this was the best. You left nothing out, it was a photographers dream photography tour and as a tutor you were very professional and took your time to help each of us.
You left nothing out and your attention to detail and perfection and creative eye was on a totally different level than what we have experienced on other workshops we have been on. You showed us beautiful stunning locations and whilst it was a busy few days, we never at any time felt rushed or pressured you took your time and helped and guided us all, even though at times the weather was not the best.
We as a group would have no hesitation in recommending one of your photography workshops to anyone in the future and the everything from the minute we met you until we parted was perfection. You are the master of photography tours and we are so happy we came across your website and can see now why people leave such amazing reviews.

Simon Leswick I recently had the privilege of attending a photography workshop that has left an indelible mark on my passion for photography. Hosted by Brendan Diver from Photos From Ireland this workshop was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, it was an enlightening and enriching experience that has elevated my photography skills to new heights.
The workshop began with an inviting and warm welcome from Brendan, whose enthusiasm for photography was contagious. His extensive knowledge and years of experience in the field were immediately evident, and it set the tone for what was to come. One of the standout features of this workshop was the meticulous planning and attention to detail. He went above and beyond to ensure that I had access to top-notch equipment and resources. The selection of locations for our practical sessions was awe-inspiring, ranging from picturesque landscapes to historic locations. It allowed me to explore diverse photographic styles and techniques.
Brendan conducted the whole experience with remarkable expertise, breaking down complex concepts into easily digestible information. He encouraged questions, fostering an open and interactive learning environment. His ability to explain technical aspects of photography in a simple and relatable manner was truly remarkable. I left his workshop with a deeper understanding of composition, lighting, and the intricacies of camera settings.

I've not only developed a deeper appreciation for the art of photography but also gained the confidence to pursue my creative vision. I am now equipped with the skills and knowledge to capture moments with a level of artistry and precision I could only dream of before.

He made sure to take the photos that we wanted but also guided us to make sure the photos come out stunning. The following day we had a fun outdoor shoot to celebrate our wee family. He made sure to make everyone feel relaxed, made us laugh to take candor pictures of our smiles and laughs. He was the best photographer you could ever ask for. We will definitely be getting Brendan back to take our photos for every occasion because for us it’s important to not worry about missing a moment to take a picture, it’s important for us to be in the moment and simply let Brendan take the stress away and to snap away.
Trevor Cole Brendan’s ‘Celtic Photoshoot’ in Inishowen yesterday (14th May) was superb. I also run photo tours and know what’s is involved to get it right! This is especially so with Ireland’s inclement weather. The locations, Pollan bay, Isle of Doagh and O’Doherty’s castle were perfect as were his chosen models (Dakota, Declan and Sinead). Brendan took time to give advice to the participants and was continually ‘moving the scene’ to add variety to the shoot. Adding ‘Rambo’ the buzzard brought along by Martin Moloney give the shoot something really special compounding its Irishness. Beaches, marram grass, backdrops of mountains and waves, ancient ruins and Irish light. What more could you ask for!? Thank you Brendan.
Heather Boyd Delighted to have done Brendan's Celtic themed photography workshop this weekend. Everything about the day was organised to perfection but at the same time it was easy going and flexible. We photograhed at stunning locations and there was no rushing, plenty of time to get the shots you wanted. Brendan was attentive and open to questions, requests and encouraged everyone to get the best out of the experience. The models were all excellent and we even had a horse and a buzzard as part of the set up. I thoroughly enjoyed the day from start to finish and would definitely recommend any workshop from Brendan. Karin and Uli Last year our kids gifted us a photo shoot. Time, place and even the photographer to be stated by us. For we both are very camera-shy, we kept the voucher as a souvenir, never really intended to use it. Then by chance, while planning our Ireland vacation, we came across the website of Photos From Ireland, saw the stunning photos and decided to give it a chance.
We met you, Brendan, in Ballyliffin, a small town on the northern edge of Ireland. From the beginning it felt like meeting an old friend. We had a great afternoon together at the most beautiful places. You made us feel comfortable all the time, we laughed a lot together and we never had the feeling of being observed by a camera. Even the few language difficulties, that occured from time to time, could easily be solved with fun and laughter. With your great sense of humour, your warmth and empathy you made us feel like being the stars of a very special Irish adventure.
Back in Germany we received the photos and recognized, what a fantastic job you’ve done, Brendan. We not only have gorgeous pictures in spectacular landscape, we also have the most precious memories of a great vacation. Above all it feels like having made a new friend in Donegal, a place, we fell in love with. Therefore, Brendan, be assured, we will come back. Maybe to do a course in landscape photography? We’ll see.
We would like to give you 10 stars out of five, because you absolutely overfulfilled our expectations. We highly recommend you to everybody travelling to Donegal.

Brendan was the photographer in the grotto and was an absolute gentleman, we broke our group into 2 family photos and Susan the elf sorted that out for us no problem. Clare Mc Daid We went to Donegal Lapland on Monday night and we were so delighted to see Brendan there as we just knew it would be a top class experience! The minute he seen us he knew and remembered us from our previous photo shoot earlier in the year which was so lovely as I’m sure he photographs loads of people. I personally hate getting photos took but we all felt at ease and more than happy with the photo, we have a 2 year old so it isn't always that easy to get a picture, €12 isn't much to have a really well done Christmas family photo, would 100% recommend getting it done if you visit. what made it easier for our wee one was the fact that there wasn't a camera in plain sight

Clive Green I just want to say that I have just spent the best ever two days of my photography experience with Brendan Diver, I learned more about my camera and the art of taking pictures in that two days than I have experienced in the past few years. Brendan also introduced me to Lightroom and it’s use in post editing which was a fascinating journey, so much so that I have taken advantage of Adobe’s special offer and purchased their Photoshop plus Lightroom package. I must also mention Sean who modelled for us at his cottage at Malin Head. A true gentleman and a wealth of experience to share. My final comment is that my time with Brendan was a fantastic experience and the wealth of his experience which he most willingly shared made my visit to Ireland one of the most memorable of my life.

Jennifer Coffey We asked Brendan to be the photographer at our father's 70th birthday party. Nothing was too much bother for him. He kept in contact up until the day, confirmed the time, turned up with a friendly and easy going attitude. He enjoyed the craic with us. We asked him to take random pictures through the night and also if he was asked by anyone to take pictures, to also do that. It only took 4 days from the party to get the photos back and they were just fab!

Madeline Ann Brendan made us feel completely at ease for our first family photo shoot in Donegal. Having a baby during Covid meant we missed out on those special newborn photo shoots. I was keen to capture Cillian with his grandparents during his first visit to Donegal. Brendan put us all at ease and nothing was too much trouble. Brendan captured some very special moments and was incredibly patient with Cillian and he had some fantastic ideas for using props around the house. We now have some superb pictures of Cillian on his own. All in all, not only did we have some great pictures, but we all had a good giggle too. Federica Comini Brendan is great. A wizard. It was the first time for us, we had never done a photo shoot before, so we didn't know exactly what to do and how to behave, but he guided us so everything was easy and natural. Annette Sproul I attended Elena Shumilova and Brendan’s workshop earlier this month. What a fantastic experience, I am still buzzing nearly three weeks later. Fabulous locations and top class models. Brendan is a great photographer and with his attention to detail every shoot provided excellent opportunities to get great shots. LKFoto - Letterkenny Photographic Club This past sunday we were treated to a taste of what Brendan Diver's Photos From Ireland photo tours offers, and what a delight it was! After car pooling at 09:30 in town, we met Brendan at the picturesque Lisnagra Woods, accompanied by the talented models Sinead McGonagle, Johnny French and bird handler Martin Moloney. Brendan walked us through various cinematic scenes with lots of helpful guidance, a good dose of fun and plenty of scope for model interaction. Everybody had a very enjoyable time and many great photos were taken. We'd all like to extend our thanks to Brendan, Sinead, Johnny and Martin for such an entertaining morning, and indeed Yvonne for organising it.
I for one can't wait to join one of Photo Tours from Ireland’s 2 day tours.. with this much packed into 2 hours, I'll need to bring a few spare sd cards!

What can I say, starting with an extremely limited knowledge of my fairly new camera I have gone to shooting completely in manual and having a good understanding of what the various buttons and settings are. Brendan was the most supportive, informative and helpful Tutor. He uses plain language which doesn't scare the beginner to photography. The craic was good and the group visited some of the most beautiful places in Inishowen for the practice shoots.. One regret - the 6 weeks went by far too quickly!! If you have a DSLR camera and are a beginner or even if you have been using your camera for a while but never undertaken a course I COULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS COURSE HIGHLY ENOUGH!!
